SMART Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 49 has launched a new website and secure member portal built for how our members, contractors, and staff actually work.

The old system slowed things down. It was hard to find information. There were too many calls to the hall. Too much time wasted. This new platform changes that.

Local 49 covers a wide territory across New Mexico and West Texas, and that footprint continues to grow. With a new apprenticeship training center opening in Lubbock in Summer 2026, the union is expanding its reach and creating more opportunities in West Texas. That matters not just for future apprentices, but for the contractors and communities that need a strong pipeline of skilled sheet metal workers.
